Coffee with Redneck Cinderella #11 Why Do We Feel Guilty for Resting? Real conversations. Real life. Real coffee. Every Monday morning. ☕❤️
Good mornin', bestie! ☕
I have a question...
Who convinced us that if we sit down for five minutes, we're somehow failing at life?
Seriously.
You finally get a minute to yourself.
You sit down with a hot cup of coffee.
You take exactly one sip...
...and suddenly your brain starts yelling at you.
"You should be folding laundry."
"You need to answer that text."
"The bathroom needs cleaned."
"Did you ever switch the clothes to the dryer?"
"You really should organize that junk drawer while you're up."
Bless it.
Can we just drink our coffee in peace? 🤣
It's almost like we've been taught that being busy equals being productive.
That if we're not constantly doing something, we're somehow being lazy.
But let me ask you this...
Have you ever noticed how your phone starts acting funny when the battery gets low?
It slows down.
Apps start freezing.
It quits working the way it's supposed to.
What do you do?
You plug it in.
You don't stand there yelling at it.
You don't tell it to "try harder."
You don't shame it for needing a charge.
You simply recharge it.
So why are we so hard on ourselves when we need the exact same thing?
Rest isn't a reward for finishing everything.
If that were true, none of us would ever get any.
Rest is part of the way God designed us.
In fact, one of the Ten Commandments is to remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.
Not because God needed a day off...
But because we do.
He knew we'd eventually wear ourselves out trying to be everything to everybody.
And if we're honest...
Some of us are running on fumes.
We've been saying yes when we wanted to say no.
We've been carrying things that were never ours to carry.
We've been filling everyone else's cups while ours has been bone dry.
Maybe today is your reminder that resting isn't quitting.
It's preparing.
It's trusting that the world can keep spinning while you take a breath.
And guess what?
It will.
The dishes will still be there.
The weeds will still be there.
That junk drawer isn't going anywhere. 😂
But you'll show up a whole lot better after you've taken a moment to refill your own soul.
So if you're sitting there reading this with your coffee...
Don't rush through it.
Take another sip.
Watch the sunrise.
Listen to the birds.
Say a little prayer.
Let your shoulders relax.
The laundry can wait another ten minutes.
I promise.
☕ Coffee Question of the Week
When's the last time you truly rested...
Not scrolling on your phone.
Not catching up on chores.
Just rested.
And what helps you recharge?
I'd love to hear what fills your cup.
☕ One Last Sip...
Friend...
You don't have to earn a break.
You don't have to apologize for slowing down.
Sometimes the most productive thing you can do...
...is rest.
Because a rested heart hears God a whole lot better than an exhausted one.
Now finish that coffee while it's still warm.
The world can wait a few more minutes.
See ya next Monday, bestie... the coffee's on me. ☕💕
