How I Became Redneck Cinderella
Hi Besties!
Have you ever looked at someone's name online and thought, "Well... that's oddly specific."
Yeah... me too.
I get asked all the time where the name Redneck Cinderella came from. People usually assume there's some elaborate story behind it. Maybe I lost a glass slipper beside a tractor. Maybe Prince Charming showed up in a muddy pickup truck. Maybe woodland animals helped me clean the chicken coop.
I hate to disappoint you, but that's not exactly how it happened.
The truth is... I used to be a total Barbie girl.
I'm talking cute outfits, high heels, matching purses, perfectly styled hair... the whole nine yards. If it came in pink, I either owned it or wanted it. I was a city girl through and through.
Then my husband and I moved to the middle of nowhere..
Turns out, farm life doesn't really care about your wardrobe.
The sequin tops started collecting dust.
The cute heels got replaced with work boots.
The designer purses got traded for feed buckets.
And somewhere along the way, my closet filled up with pink overalls instead of dresses.
Now, don't get me wrong...
I wasn't about to give up my Barbie side.
I still love pink.
I still love glitter.
I still think everything is better with a little sparkle.
I just had to learn that you can wear work boots and still have a little Barbie in you.
One day it finally clicked.
I wasn't the city girl anymore...
But I wasn't just a country girl either.
I was both.
And that's when Redneck Cinderella was born.
Because why should I have to choose?
Who says you can't wear pink overalls while feeding goats?
Who says you can't have work boots with pink laces?
Who says you can't drive a tractor one minute and put on a tiara the next?
Last time I checked, there wasn't a rule book.
These days you'll usually find me somewhere between wrangling farm animals, recording a podcast, baking something in the kitchen, teaching Sunday school, or trying to figure out what animal escaped this time.
Life looks a whole lot different than I ever imagined it would.
And honestly...
I wouldn't trade it for anything.
People have always acted like you have to pick a lane.
You're either the girly girl...
Or you're the country girl.
You're either strong...
Or you're soft.
You can love makeup...
Or you can get your hands dirty.
You can wear pink...
Or you can drive a tractor.
Who made up all these rules?
Because I never agreed to them.
I've learned that God didn't create us to fit neatly into everybody else's little categories.
He created us to be exactly who He designed us to be.
For me, that means I'm a veteran.
I'm a wife.
I'm a mom.
I'm a podcast host.
I'm a business owner.
I'm a farm girl.
I'm an Alpha-Gal warrior.
I'm a follower of Jesus.
And yes... occasionally I'm the woman running across the yard in pink overalls trying to catch a goat while wearing a tiara because someone thought it would make a funny picture.
Spoiler alert...
It usually does.
The name Redneck Cinderella isn't about pretending life is perfect.
Actually, it's the complete opposite.
It's about finding beauty in the chaos.
It's laughing when everything goes sideways.
It's choosing joy when life gives you every reason not to.
It's remembering that even on the days when life feels messy, God is still writing your story.
If you've listened to the podcast or followed me on Facebook for very long, you've probably noticed that I share the funny moments just as much as the hard ones.
That's intentional.
Life has handed me plenty of reasons to quit.
I've faced military injuries.
I've buried people I love.
I've been diagnosed with Alpha-Gal Syndrome.
I've watched plans fall apart more than once.
But I've also seen God's faithfulness show up in ways I never expected.
Sometimes through answered prayers.
Sometimes through people.
Sometimes through laughter on the exact day I needed it most.
That's what I hope you'll find here.
Not perfection.
Not someone pretending to have it all figured out.
Just a woman trying to follow Jesus, love her family, survive farm life, and remind people that it's okay to laugh when life gets a little...
Woah... Yikes!
Thanks for being here.
Whether you found me through the podcast, Facebook, the farm, the Alpha-Gal community, or you somehow wandered onto this page by accident...
I'm glad you're here.
Pull up a chair.
Pour yourself a cup of coffee.
Stay awhile.
I have a feeling we're going to have some pretty great stories to tell.
