Coffee with Redneck Cinderella #8: You Can't Pour From an Empty Coffee Cup Real conversations. Real life. Real coffee. Every Monday morning. ☕❤️
Good mornin', bestie! ☕💕
Let me ask you something...
When was the last time you did something just because it made you happy?
Not because your kids needed it.
Not because your husband asked.
Not because your boss expected it.
Not because it was on your never-ending to-do list.
Just because it filled your own cup.
I'll wait...
If you're anything like me, you're probably sitting there thinking...
"Well... does buying a new planner count?"
Because apparently I believe the next planner is gonna be the one that magically turns me into an organized adult. 🤣
Spoiler alert...
It has not happened yet.
Here's what I've realized.
We're really good at taking care of everybody else.
We'll check on our friends.
We'll make casseroles.
We'll babysit.
We'll answer phone calls when we're exhausted.
We'll say yes when we should've said no.
Then, at the end of the day, we wonder why we're completely drained.
It's because we've been pouring all day...
...without ever stopping for a refill.
Imagine inviting everybody you know over for coffee.
You keep filling their cups.
One after another.
Pretty soon, the pot is empty.
You don't stare at the empty coffee pot and say, "Come on! Give me one more cup!"
You make another pot.
So why do we expect ourselves to keep giving when we're running on empty?
Even Jesus stepped away from the crowds.
He rested.
He prayed.
He spent quiet time with His Father.
If the Savior of the world knew He needed to pause...
Why do we think we're somehow supposed to go nonstop?
Taking care of yourself isn't selfish.
It's what allows you to keep showing up for the people you love.
Maybe for you, that refill looks like reading a chapter of a book.
Maybe it's sitting on the porch with your coffee before the house wakes up.
Maybe it's going for a walk.
Maybe it's laughing with a friend until your stomach hurts.
Maybe it's turning your phone off for an hour and just... breathing.
Whatever fills your cup...
Make time for it.
Because the people who love you don't need a burned-out version of you.
They need you.
☕ Coffee Question of the Week
What fills your cup?
Is it fishing? Reading? Gardening? Baking? Riding backroads with the windows down? Sitting on the porch? Tell us in the comments—I might even steal a few ideas. 🤣
☕ One Last Sip...
You don't have to earn rest.
You don't have to apologize for taking a break.
Refill your cup.
Say a prayer.
Take a deep breath.
Drink your coffee while it's still hot for once.
The laundry will still be there.
And let's be honest...
It's probably been there since Tuesday anyway. 😂
See ya next Monday, bestie... the coffee's on me. ☕💕
