I Miss the Good Ol' Days... But Not ALL of Them 🤣

I Miss the Good Ol' Days... But Not ALL of Them 🤣

People are always talking about how they wish we could go back to the good ol' days.

And listen...

There are definitely some things I miss.

I miss when gas was cheap.

I miss Saturday morning cartoons.

I miss renting movies from Blockbuster. 🍿

I miss having to actually call your friend and ask if they could come outside instead of texting them from three rooms away.

I miss when pictures lived in photo albums instead of buried somewhere between 42 screenshots and a recipe I'll never make. 🤣

I miss when dinner wasn't interrupted because somebody had to take a picture of their food.

I miss when "going viral" meant you had the flu.

But let's not act like everything back then was better.

Because some things can stay exactly where they are.

Like...

Calling a boy's house and having his dad answer the phone.

😳

"Uh... hi, Mr. Smith... is... um... Jason home?"

Talk about anxiety.

Or trying to get on the internet...

Only to hear...

EEEEEEE... KKKKKK... SHHHHHH... BEEEEEEP...

And then somebody picks up the phone and disconnects you.

🤦‍♀️

I don't miss disposable cameras.

Taking 27 pictures...

Waiting a week to get them developed...

Only to discover every single one had somebody blinking.

Or your thumb was over the lens.

Or somebody walked through the background scratching their butt.

🤣

And can we talk about MapQuest?

Printing seventeen pages of directions...

Then realizing you missed Turn Number 3 back in Chattanooga.

Now what?

Just keep driving until you see civilization again?

No thank you.

I don't miss low-rise jeans either.

Some trends deserve to stay retired.

Forever.

And those inflatable couches...

Who convinced us they were a good idea?

You'd spend thirty minutes running through the air trying to fill it up...

Just for it to deflate five minutes later.

🤣

Cassette tapes?

Don't get me wrong...

I loved them.

Until they got eaten by the tape player.

Then you were sitting there with a pencil trying to rewind your favorite song.

Kids today have no idea how traumatic that was.

And let's not forget...

If your mom needed you...

She yelled your full government name off the front porch.

Everybody within a three-mile radius knew you were about to be in trouble.

No cell phone required.

🤣

The truth is...

Every generation has its good stuff.

And every generation has some things we're better off leaving in the past.

I'm thankful I grew up when I did.

I'm thankful kids today have things we never dreamed of.

And I'm especially thankful I no longer have to carry around a Thomas Guide, a pager, and a quarter just in case I needed to use a pay phone.

Some of y'all know exactly what I'm talking about. 😂

So tell me...

What's one thing you miss from the good ol' days...

And what's one thing you're perfectly happy to leave back there? 🤣☕💕
